kinda sad =(

something rather interesting was pointed out to me today.. my room has come to be known as a 'shoe graveyard'.. there are approximately 8 pairs of shoes shrewn around on my floor.. and a 'couple' more pairs tucked neatly away under my bed -___-"
it's a pretty well known fact that women love to shop for shoes.. the movie 'in her shoes' gives a pretty good explaination as to why - shoes always fit. when you're binge shopping after a bad day, you don't want to try on a hundred different shirts that don't fit, or fifty pairs of pants that make you feel fat; you want to try on something that fits and looks fabulous, and often shoes are the solution =) shoes make or break an outfit, and a great pair of shoes can pull in compliments left right and centre
despite all this, has anybody else noticed that we [or women] jump at any opportunity to take off their shoes?! maybe i'm just weird.. but although i have 20 pairs of shoes, i don't particularly like to have shoes on my feet.. i'd much rather go socked or barefooted. so where does that leave my shoe fetish? if the shoes that i supposedly love so much don't stay on my feet half the time.. what really is the use?
maybe the hippies had it right all along... maybe au naturelle is the way to go =P

pitter patter pitter patter

here i go again..

while numbly observing the oil prints on my laptop keyboard during my film lecture today, i noticed something interesting...

i only ever use my right thumb for the spacebar.. it's not like my left thumb is used for anything else, i just never use it to type the spacebar.. is that weird?! =P

so, its friday, and i just finished my last class of the week =)
yes, hard as it is to believe, i've survived my first week of classes =O
i guess i should say something about it

COGS100 [Introduction to Cognitive Science]
as expected, cogs is one of my more interesting classes.. it basically deals with putting together psych, compsci, philosophy, linguistics, neurosci and artificial intelligence.. we have two profs, no TAs that i know of yet, probably because its such a small department.. but yeah, its good in that there shouldn't be any big essays and writing that i have to do.. which is actually something i really dread for some reason -___-"

ENGL110 [Introduction to the Study of Literature in English]
interesting as this course has potential to be, it sucks. period. my 'prof' is actually an 'instructor' who's doing her PhD and was a TA for the past three years.. not that there's anything wrong with that, she's just a really nervous, and it shows.. she starts the class early and just reads off her lecture notes -___- ... basically, not a class i look forward to attending

FILM110 [Film, Culture and Communication]
i'm still really disappointed that there are no photography courses offered, but film is the next best thing =P.. my prof is a typical 'artist', but in a cool way =P.. he wears purple ties, has bits of graying hair and just looks really eccentric =) we watched our first movie, PSYCHO, which was... good =P .. i guess it'll take me a while to get used to the whole course in general because i'm so accustomed to looking at art with a photographic eye, but it should be fun =) ..OH and i forgot to mention, my TA is really cute =)

LING100 [Introduction to Linguistics]
linguistics was the course i chose over drama.. not regretting it yet, so lets hope it stays that way.. i love my prof - Hitay, lets us call her by her first name =P .. again, very grateful that there are no essays to be done, and it looks like an interesting course.. however, the scheduling of this class kinda sucks.. its always set at a time when i've either just come from lunch, or three other lectures.. and so i always find myself dozing off -___-" .. i should get the coffee ready.. =P

PSYC100 [Principles of Psychology]
and finally, my crazy choice of a major - well technically its not a major yet, and to be perfectly honest, it probably won't be my major after first year -__-.. there are 2 lectures of 450 people, and another 'superpsyc' course at night with about 900 people.. and of all these people, only the top 200 make it to second year -_________-".. my class alone has 3 coordinators, 6 profs, and 12 TAs, so yeah, a little intimidating =| .. but nonetheless i'm looking forward to it, and all fingers crossed *****

SO, there you have it.. my schedule right now is pretty awesome, i'm averaging about 13 hours of lectures a week.. and minus tutorials, tuesday, thursday and friday i only have one class =D.. the workload is okay for now, ie: i'm not slacking yet.. but i have a feeling that once the reading piles up and gets increasingly boring i'll stop being such a keener =P
but yeah, thats basically it..
hello university =)
